We’ve been providing comradery and a great source of laughter for a solid decade through our Light Foundation “fun”-draiser, Fools’ Night Out! And, as we have since the event’s inception, we welcomed a full crowd to help further our mission of helping young people develop the skills, values, and mindset they need to create a meaningful and productive future.
On March 29th, we welcomed Boston-based comedians, celebrities, and guests to our new event venue, Memoire at Encore Boston Harbor! The space had so much to offer — from great stage-view seating and high-tech production features – to hotel rooms steps away, and a number of great dining options onsite. Hats off to the Encore team for going above and beyond to provide a wonderful atmosphere for this signature event!
Several celebrities attended the show, including Matt Light’s former New England Patriots teammate David Andrews and philanthropist and businessman Ernie Boch, Jr. Guests were in stitches, thanks to a talented line-up of comics provided by Mike Clarke of Giggles Comedy Club. Artie Januario kicked off the show, and was joined by Steve Sweeney, Paul D’Angelo, Christine Hurley, Ken Rogerson, Carolyn Plummer, Kelly McFarland, Dave Russo, Johnny Pizzi, and Corey Rodrigues, who closed the show.
Matt garnered extra laughs with a number of funny videos of some of his practical jokes, including a gag featuring Coach Bill Belichick, and another with his former teammates Dan Koppen and Mike Vrabel.
The event could not have been possible without the help of many generous sponsors who supported our efforts. A big round of applause for our Lead Sponsor, Rockport Mortgage Corporation, led by owner Dan Lyons; new Tomfoolery Sponsor, the Dwyer Foundation; and Wisecracker Sponsor, the J. Derenzo Charitable Foundation and David Howe. Encore Boston Harbor, Koopman Lumber and Subaru of New England also stepped up as Prankster Sponsors! Gemini Industries was the Mischief-Maker Sponsor.
We are also grateful to the night’s in-kind donors: KEEL Vodka, who sponsored our signature drink, Harpoon Brewery for its beer donation, Big Night Entertainment, Cardi’s Furniture for not only donating auction items, but also helping with event promotion, Liz Oberacker and Pure Style Photography, Adam Fisher and Bryan Molk at Outfront Media for the digital billboards, and Chuck Coughlin and Back Stage Photo Booth.
Now it’s time to start preparing for the next ten years! Plans are already taking shape for the 11th annual Fools’ Night Out in 2024, and new pranks are being curated each chance Matt Light gets!
If you still want to support our efforts, consider donating to our Fund-A-Need, which supports our programs and initiatives directly.
