Our recent Dayton class visit was a perfect example of what Camp Vohokase is all about—building
connections, creating memorable experiences, and growing as individuals both personally and professionally. From the very start of the day to the final meal we shared, every stop along the way offered an opportunity not just for fun, but for meaningful conversation and reflection.
We started the day at Blueberry Cafe, where a great breakfast set the tone. It gave everyone a chance to ease into the day, catch up with one another, and simply enjoy being together. There’s something about sitting down over a meal that naturally opens the door for conversation, and that theme carried with us throughout the entire day.
After breakfast, we made our way to Sky Zone, where the energy quickly picked up. Whether it was jumping, competing, or just laughing at each other’s attempts at flips, it was a great way to get active and let loose. It also reminded us of the importance of balance—taking time to have fun and recharge while still staying focused on our goals.
Next, we headed to Laser Web, where the competition really came alive. Between arcade games, laser mazes, and several rounds of laser tag, everyone had a chance to engage, compete, and support one another. These moments weren’t just about winning or losing, but about teamwork, communication, and building camaraderie in a different environment.
We then made a quick stop at Dairy Queen for ice cream, which was the perfect reset before continuing on with the day. From there, we traveled to On Par Entertainment, where pool and darts brought out another layer of friendly competition. It was another chance for everyone to connect, challenge each other, and continue building those relationships that make this program so impactful.
We closed out the night with dinner at Huey Magoo’s, taking time to slow down and reflect on everything we had experienced throughout the day. While the activities were exciting, what truly stood out were the conversations we had in between each stop. Throughout the day, we intentionally created space to talk about professional development—what our goals are, where we see ourselves in the future, and what steps we need to take to get there.
Those discussions were honest, thoughtful, and motivating. We challenged each other to think beyond thepresent moment and to consider the bigger picture. Whether it was talking about career paths, personal growth, or the obstacles we may face along the way, the dialogue was meaningful and purposeful.
This trip was more than just a fun outing—it was an opportunity to grow together. It showed that development doesn’t only happen in structured sessions or classrooms, but also in shared experiences, casual conversations, and moments of reflection throughout the day. Camp Vohokase continues to create spaces where young leaders can connect, learn, and push each other toward a stronger future.
