To round out the last of our winter visits, we spent quality time with Urijah, Marius, and Lashawn – the juniors from our Camp Vohokase program from Dayton, Ohio. Together, we made unforgettable memories while catching up on each others lives at Scene 75, Buffalo Wild Wings, and the bowling alley—a perfect mix of excitement, delicious food, and friendly competition.
We kicked off the day at Scene 75, an indoor entertainment wonderland that instantly brought out the inner kids in all of us. From thrilling arcade games to action-packed laser tag battles and fast-paced go-karts, there was never a dull moment. The energy was high as we raced, dodged, and celebrated our small victories, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
After hours of fun and bonding, we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings to refuel. Between bites, we shared stories, laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company—exactly what we needed to recharge before our next adventure.
To end the night, we hit the lanes for some classic bowling. The friendly competition was fierce, but everyone was focused on getting that perfect strike or at least avoiding the gutter. There were plenty of cheers for impressive shots, playful teasing over missed pins, and lighthearted moments that made the experience even better. Whether we were knocking down strikes or laughing at our less-than-perfect rolls, it was a fantastic way to wrap up an already amazing day.
Reflecting on the weekend, we’re reminded of the core values we strive to instill in our Camp Vohokase participants. This flagship leadership program, founded by three-time Super Bowl Champion Matt Light, aims to help young men from at-risk communities develop responsibility, ethics, accountability, and leadership skills. Urijah, Marius, Lashawn, and other campers are committed to a four-year journey that includes a ten day summer camp, community service projects, and mentorship, all designed to foster personal growth and leadership qualities.
From fun activities to impactful life lessons, it was an inspiring weekend. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be a part of these young men’s journey, introduce them to new things, and we look forward to the continued growth of Camp Vohokase.
