On Tuesday, May 15th, Patriots Hall of Fame Inductee Matt Light hosted the 3rd Annual Light Foundation Leadership Conference at Bridgewater State University, a day-long student summit with sophomore and junior students from Fall River, Brockton and New Bedford high schools.
The conference opened with a few words from Bridgewater State University President Fred Clark before keynote speaker and Former New England Patriot Troy Brown spoke about how motivation played a role in his journey to the NFL. Students then worked in teams to depict Will Smith’s ten motivational tips through artwork. After, Doug King, CEO of Douglas A King Builders, Inc., spoke about his rise to success and the importance of persistence.
Breakfast was provided by Neal Faulkner of Dunkin' Donuts while Bridgewater State provided the lunch. Sugar Mommas Custom Cakes of Franklin supplied students and staff with delicious cupcakes for dessert while the AMP Radio 103.3 Street Team played music and handed out giveaways!
The second half of the day featured rotations outside with six influential speakers. The speakers include: Founder of Journey Forward Dan Cummings and his brother, American actor, writer and producer Jimmy Cummings, NBC 10 Boston News Anchor Natasha Verma, Co-host of the TJ Show on 103.3 AMP Radio Loren Raye, Comedian Corey Rodrigues, and Matt Light as well. This year's leadership conference was a success thanks to our donors, the schools we work with, our volunteers, and our inspiring speakers. Students walked away feeling energized and motivated to complete the yearlong post-conference work and we're excited to welcome them back next year.
