The Gauntlet Mud Run

A 5K Muddy Adventure Trail Run
Chenoweth Trails – August 2020

Since 2012, The Light Foundation has hosted the Annual Gauntlet 5k Muddy Adventure Trail Run at Chenoweth Trails in Greenville, Ohio.

The race is made up of natural terrain and military inspired obstacles that require the use of teamwork and perseverance to make it to the finish line. The competitors will face several obstacles that include walls to climb, ropes to swing across, and mud to crawl through. The more they conquer the MUDDIER they will get! The Gauntlet has taken on immense popularity within the surrounding areas, accommodating over 650 participants and 200 volunteers, and although it’s a fun community activity, the top runners are rewarded. The top two male and female finishers will be recognized in the following age categories: 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and a CASH PRIZE of $100 to the Top Overall Finisher. Awards will also be presented to the Top Team participating and competing for the Team/Corporate and School Challenge.

All runners that sign up to run are given a drawstring bag that includes a T-Shirt, finishers medal, and a free drink token – yes, that includes beer because we know you’re going to need one after this run!

If you’re not a fan of getting dirty or running, there’s still plenty of fun for the whole family. There are spectator areas available for you to watch your loved ones participate in the race. In addition to all the fun events there is also food, snacks, and beverages offered!

The dunk tank is always a hit! In years past there has been a handful of community members that have taken the plunge to raise money for The Light Foundation in efforts to help fund their programs for area youth. Stop out and maybe you’ll see the local radio station DJ, your county commissioner, or even Matt Light ready to be dunked by you!

The kid’s zone is a must if you want your kids to burn as much energy as you will while running The Gauntlet. Of course, kids are invited to enjoy the free kid’s zone even if their parents or guardians are not running the race. It includes bounce houses, fun games, face painting, and animal balloons which are all chaperoned by the Greenville City Schools Careers with Children.

If the kids’ zone doesn’t burn all their energy up, then the Kids Race should finish the job. After the five waves of races take off in the morning for The Gauntlet, the kids between the ages of 5 and 12 will have their chance to compete. It is one mile long and always chaperoned in case your kids need help along the way. The cost is $10 per kids and includes a t-shirt if they sign up by the deadline.

Whether you are running as an individual, student (check out our student discount offer), for a corporate fun day, as a team, or for a school challenge day of race registration is available but sign up as early as December for a guaranteed T-Shirt!

All of this would not be possible without our sponsors. Twenty-five of them have committed their support for the Gauntlet, some have even accepted the challenge as a team to conquer the mud.
