Matt Light Celebrity Shoot-Out

2019 MATT LIGHT CELEBRITY SHOOT-OUT

On Tuesday, September 24th, 2019, more than 500 participants converged on Rhode Island’s Addieville East Farm for the Light Foundation’s 15th Annual Matt Light Celebrity Shoot-Out.  This signature annual fundraiser continues to be one the most exciting and unique charity events in North America, and this year’s was no different.

Guests started the day running on coffee sponsor Dunkin’ Donuts, and visited exhibitors, such as Gooseman Game Calls, Kawasaki, Flint & Flame, Finn & Feather/OrvisBoostBadge, and Pure Flex, and enjoying a gun range run by all of the participating gun companies, such as: Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Sig SauerMossbergDiamondback Firearms, FN America  and major donor Benelli.  Other onsite activities like fly-fishing, archery provided by Bass Pro Shops, rides on the Kawasaki MX Pro, a new axe throwing station, and a classic and specialty car exhibition, sponsored by McLaren of Boston, provided additional fun!

To top it off, we had some amazing military tanks for even more photo-ops!

A Hot Shot contest pitted celebrities against each other in a game of skill and speed, with Rob Ninkovich taking top honors once again.

Guests were well-fed with a beautiful lunch buffet provided by Stella and Cappella Restaurants, along with small bites on the course and under the tent, courtesy of Firefly’s BBQWahlburger’s Food TruckBaby’s Bonetown BBQ and The Sausage Guy!  HINT Water, ReinhartCoca-ColaPepsi Talking Rain Sparkling Ice provided drinks all day.

The End Zone Militia helped kickoff the tournament, and once the after-party started, Gronk made the entrance only he could – and got the crowd going by auctioning off a custom Brian Fox painting – it was epic!

The program was emceed by comedians Lenny Clarke & Tony V, who helped raise the fundraising bar once again by auctioning off once-in-a-lifetime trips, exclusive Patriots memorabilia, a Kawasaki MX PRO, and more.

Cocktails were flowing from Harpoon, MS Walker, Proximo Spirits, FitVine, and KEEL Vodka, and fine-dining in the woods ensued once again, thanks to our amazing long-time partner, The Capital Grille. Dessert was an amazing three-tiered Shoot-Out-themed cake from Tracey’s Cakes, and a delicious cookie and cupcake display from Sarcastic Sweets.

Our live band, The Sultans, brought the house down for the third year in a row — and our 15th year fireworks display was out of this world – capping off what was a very special day.

We are privileged this year to have had the support of several phenomenal sponsors, some of whom are new, and others who’ve lent longtime support to the Foundation. Dan Lyons, the owner of Rockport Mortgage Corporation, went above and beyond for the Foundation this year as the event’s top sponsor at the “72 Level.”  J.Derenzo, headed by David Howe, was the Platinum Sponsor. Putnam Investments, run by Bob Reynolds, stepped up again as our Hot Shot Sponsor along with partner Santoro Oil, run by John Santoro. Chuck Clement of Eastern Propane was our Silver Sponsor. Our friends at Doug King Builders were back again as our Bronze Sponsor along with Sig Sauer and Boston Private Bank. Our Signage Sponsors this year included O.F. Mossberg, HarborOne Bank and Goodwin Group PRTalking Rain Sparkling Ice supported our Charging Stations.

Hasbro, run by Brian Goldner, increased its support this year as a sponsor.  We also want to recognize longtime sponsor Sturm, Ruger & Co., headed up by Chris Killoy as well as our partners at Smith & Wesson. A huge thank you again to Capital Grille for their help in making this day possible year after year. Also, a huge thank you to our corporate partner, Gemini Industries Inc., for their continued support!

They have all been instrumental in making this year’s 15th Annual Celebrity Shoot-Out our best one yet! We couldn’t continue to do what we do without their incredibly generous help and support. Thank you to everyone!

The  Shoot-Out  offers  nearly  500  attendees  the  chance  annually  to  match  their  shooting  skills  against  Light  and  his  celebrity  guests,  and  also  features  the  Hot  Shot  Contest,  where  celebrities  are  pitted  against  one  another  in  a  competition  that  always  makes  for  a  highly  competitive  and  entertaining  attendee  experience.  In  addition  to  all  of  the  action,  the  Shoot-Out  also  consists  of  an  after  party  featuring  live  music  and  an  auction  run  by  Light  and  comedians,  Lenny  Clarke  and  Tony  V.

The  high-profile  charity  event  is  Matt’s  response  to  a  world  dominated  by  golf  tournaments  and  galas,  and  offers  him  the  opportunity  to  combine  his  passion  for  giving  with  his  love  of  the  outdoors.

Since its inception in 2004, the Shoot-Out has brought in nearly $7 million for the Light Foundation.  2019 marks the 15th year of the signature fundraiser –  proof  that  the  ever-evolving  event  is  still  popular  for  sponsors,  shooters,  vendors  and  volunteers.  Much  of  the  money  raised  goes  toward  expanding  Chenoweth  Trails,  to  continue  to  support  and  impact  the  development  of  youth-based  initiatives  in  the  coming  years.

“We’ve  tried  to  build  a  unique  charity  event  that  people  get  excited  for.  Our  goal  years  ago  was  to  provide  an  event  that  fits  our  style,  using  outdoor  activities  to  teach  leadership  and  responsibility.  It’s  evolved  into  this  massive  tournament  and  party  that  is  beyond  what  I  had  envisioned  years  ago.  The  support  that  we  receive  from  our  generous  sponsors,  donors, celebrities,  and  volunteers  year  after  year  is  what  continues  the  success  of  this  event.”
