Matt Light hosted the second annual Cornhole Commotion at the Dana Farber Field House at Gillette Stadium on Saturday. The event — which brought out Light’s Patriots pals Nate Solder, Rob Ninkovich, Braxston Cave, and Sebastian Vollmer — raised money for the Matt Light Foundation, which helps at-risk kids, and also apparently broke the Guinness World Record for largest cornhole tournament (he had 160 teams playing the game).

Thank you to everyone who came out to play and watch. It was a great day all around - lots of good food, fun for the kids in our Fun Fest Kid Zone, and great auctions and raffles. Thank you to all of our sponsors, vendors, participants and volunteers who made it happen. We made World Record history and had a lot of fun doing it!

It’s Back! Are you Ready to Make a Commotion Again on June 14?

Matt Light created quite a ruckus last June when he introduced the game of Cornhole to New Englanders in a big way at Gillette Stadium. The 128-team Cornhole Commotion tournament brought together local celebrities, area enthusiasts, new competitors, corporate players, Light Foundation supporters and families excited to partake in a cool, new, end-of-the-school-year celebration. Tournament play took place in familiar territory for Light – the Gillette Stadium Dana Farber Field House. Hard-core players and new Cornhole disciples flocked from all over New England, North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey to compete in the tourney and win attractive purses. The media loved the idea of a new family-friendly event with the affable Matt Light leading the Cornhole charge.

This year Matt Light is going for the record – the Guinness World Record for a one-day Cornhole Tournament! We need your help to make it the biggest and best Cornhole event ever. Sign up your team today. Festivities include a tournament with 200+ teams and four top prizes in the $200-$1000 range; a Taste of Patriot Place food concourse; a 21+ Cornhole Cantina beverages from Quality Beverage; the Ruger VIP Lounge; the FunFest Kid Zone with NFL Experience inflatables, dunk tank; games, musical entertainment and entertainers from King Richard’s Faire, raffles and the Cardi’s Furniture Championship Round on hallowed ground – the New England Patriots practice field. It is going to be another great day for all – players, observers, sponsors, area businesses and families. Come be part of the commotion!

Once again, Southeast Regional Vocational Technical School will step up in a big way to show their talent and reinforce The Light Foundation’s mission of helping kids achieve more. Students in the construction, cabinet-making and collision-repair courses will design, build and fashion custom Cornhole boards that will be sold via a silent auction; culinary classmates will help out in the food concourse and creative peers will offer face-painting in the KidZone.

Cornhole Commotion created quite a buzz in the region in year #1. The Light Foundation saw social media traffic increases and 20+ media hits including The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, New England Cable News, NBC Sports, Comcast Sports, CBS Radio, NFL.com, Patriots.com, WCVB-Chronicle, WPRI-The Rhode Show, The Providence Journal, KISS 108, local papers and Patches. In the months since Cornhole Commotion last June there has been a noteworthy spike in Cornhole tourneys with organizations like The Boston Red Sox, The Sean Collier Memorial Fu and Giving Hope hosting fundraising tournaments, event planners staging corporate team-building outings and businesses offering Cornhole leagues. Cornhole Commotion, however, remains the undisputed big dog! In fact, it was recognized as an exceptional national PR campaign by PRWeek. In year #2, Cornhole Commotion promises to draw even more attendees and attention! Make your plans today to come be part of the commotion.

The Light Foundation and Goodwin Group PR look forward to kicking things up a notch on June 14th with a bigger tourney, a carnival atmosphere, a great foodie forum, casual fun, pro athletes, music and YOU!
